I am the drawing board gone back to...

Another busy week, another lack of frequent entries, he he he. Played ball 3 times this week...which is a first in a long time, and my body's definitely feelin it. I feel like I'm gettin back into shape though, only about 6 or 7 lbs until I reach my goal! Well, weight is definitely arbitrary, i just need to lose body fat...I still need to get mine measured somehow. Falling out of my good sleep habits...been going to sleep at an average of 2:30AM....need to get regular again. even 1 is good.

Dude, these two videos are probably the funniest parodies, if you can even call them that, that i've ever seen! A little backstory of course... For those who are unaware, Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman have been dating for quite some time. Being that they are both of the comedic variety, they love to roast each other. So Sarah, on Jimmy's show, gave him the following gift:

I was dying when I saw this the first time, and even every time thereafter. What's hilarious is to see Matt gettin all into it. I love it when people break out of their normal roles and do something just totally outrageous.

If I thought Sarah's video was crazy cuz Matt was just off the wall, this one take the cake. Must be nice to have all those resources at your disposal...frickin Jimmy. Frickin HEE LARE EE YUSS!!!!!

Hands down two of the best youtube vids ever!

2. You gotta stay active.
I was in track, cross country and basketball in high school, but once I started college, the running and basketball began to slowly fade away. Not right away — I played pick-up basketball for years after high school. But even that went away, until I became sedentary. Playing with my kids outdoors winded me. And I began to get fat. I’ve reversed that trend, and am very active now, but I’m still trying to burn the fat I gained in those inactive years.

I am the river bank of thoughts and ideas...

Happy B-day Nerdia!!! 29 and catchin up quick! In the words of WAMU, WHOO HOO!

So much for posting every day, ha ha ha. I didn't even post the first word of advice...tis Friday, thank goodness. I'll be glad to not have to work for a few days. I worked both Sat and Sunday last weekend...albeit, not for too long, about 3-4 hours each day. Still, that's 12 days straight. It'll be nice to have a weekend for resting, and yes, cleaning my room for once. And of course, working out.

20 Things I Wish I Had Known When Starting Out in Life
1. How to control impulse spending.
If there’s anything that got me in trouble financially, it’s impulse spending. Buying clothes when I don’t need them. Buying gadgets because I gotta have them. Ordering stuff online because it’s so easy. Buying that new shiny SUV because … well, because it was going to help me with women. I’m not proud of any of that. I’ve learned to control my impulses, at least a little better. Now, I give myself some time to breathe. I think over my purchases, see if I’ve got the money, think about whether it’s a need or a want. That would have been a useful tool 15 years ago.

Here's an interesting forward I got from Anna this morning, or a while ago, I can't even remember anymore. People have probably seen this countless times, but it really never ceases to amaze me.

I am an afterthought...

I forgot I wanted to include this in my blog. I got this article from a friend...basically it's a guy sharing w/ us 20 things he had known a lot earlier in his life. He doesn't regret anything, just rather wishes he knew a little more...and this is his attempt to share that knowledge with us. I'm gonna post 1 each entry, in hopes that I... 1) will post more frequently and 2) Bestow some knowledge with my small but faithful readership, he he he, and 3) Perhaps create 20 words of wisdom of my own afterward. I'ma start with the intro and then go with number one on my next post. Here goes:

20 Things I Wish I Had Known When Starting Out in Life

"Everything has been figured out, except how to live"
-Jean-Paul Sartre

I’m nearly 35 years old, and I’ve made my share of mistakes in my life. I’m not a big believer in regrets and I have learned tremendously from every single mistake and my life is pretty great.

However, there are a few things I wish I had known when I was graduating from high school and starting out as an adult in life.

Would I change things? I’m not so sure. I might never have gotten into a mountain of debt, but then I wouldn’t have learned the amazing satisfaction of getting out of it. I might have made better career choices, but then I wouldn’t have all the work experience that makes me the blogger and writer that I am today.

I might not have gotten married that first time, so that I would never have gotten divorced … but then I wouldn’t have my first two beautiful wonderful incredible children from that first marriage.

I don’t think I would change any of that. However, looking back, there are some lessons I’ve learned that I would probably tell my 18-year-old self. Do I share them now to share my regrets? No, I share them in hopes that younger men and women, just starting out in life, can benefit from my mistakes and my lessons.

What follows isn’t an exhaustive list, but it’s one that I hope proves useful to at least a few people.

"I hope life isn’t a big joke, because I don’t get it."
-Jack Handey

Numero uno for tomorrow...hopefully...

I am day number two and counting...

Been back for a little over a week now, and it feels good to be settling into my normal routine: workin out, playin ball, Mai Tai wednesdays, choir, etc. My week is a little full but it's my week and I enjoy it. I've realized that I've spent most of 2008 away from home, Vegas 2x, Tahoe, Detroit, NYC and Boston. It really felt good to be out of the cold weather and step into a mini-heat wave...which seems good and gone now that it's supposed to rain the rest of the week. It'll be good for snowboardin though. So in my blog absence, here are some pics of my trip and a mini snowboardin trip I went on to Mtn High...after the rain this week, I just may have to come down w/ a little somethin and hit the slopes again...I'm sure it'll be better than the last trip I took; I think I ate it more than the last 3 snowboarding trips I took, which were all 2-day boarding trips. So that's a lot.

This was my trip to the east coast. I was test driving and I have to go back in about a month. At least it won't be as cold....or will it?

b-days have come and gone, holidays, and a ton of events since I've been back. So much has happened. So much in fact, that it would be impossible to list them all here w/o writing for the next hour or so. So happy belated to all, congrats and best wishes to all, and here's to a rockin '08 so far. Work has been absolutel crazy since I've been back. I've had nothing but deadlines and new things on my desk every day; and I've been leaving far later than I've been accustomed to as of late, but hey, those are the breaks. I know I get my down time and I know after this project winds down, I'm goin for a nice lil vacay in Hawaii...

In parting for today, I would like to share this video, compliments of Anna. I know I didn't check it out til hella late, but thanks for the laugh!

I'm sure I had something a little more interesting to say; but alas, my mind is drawing blanks...

Go LAKERS!

I am one of two...

Man, a week between posts comes by way quick...

Finally done w/ work out in the east coast. And now, I can relax and play a little bit. Of course I hit up Luzzo's and Gray's during the week...but I didn't get a chance to hit up Cafe Havana on Prince...maybe today. I wish my flight out tomorrow was later, but due to budgetary(is this a word?) reasons, I had to leave earlier(the flights later in the day were insanely high). Anyway, I am now in Brooklyn, at my friend Jason's place, and just watching some SC while I wait for them to get up. We went out to a sports bar to watch the Laker game last night(which they won), and then headed out to this Thai rest/bar called Song and met quite a few interesting people there. They want me to hang out w/ them again when I come back out here next month; he he he. After having our fill of drink, food(the pad see ew is awesome there), and excellent company, we headed out to this lounge for this J Dilla tribute. By the time we got there(we hung at Song for a bit longer than we expected), there was a mega long line outside...and the guy that was spinning that Jason knew didn't do cell phones...and we had to have him come outside to come get us. So um...fat chance of that happening, unless he happened to come outside to the front for a smoke...we got his pager number but way later...and we had already decided to go home at that point. But it was a good time...a very good time :)

So here's a little strange tidbit of information, but I've been curious about it for a while; I get crazy thirsty when I take a long shower...esp when I shave my head, cuz I'm in there even longer. Granted, my long showers are only like 15 minutes. But yeah, the longer I'm in there, the more parched I get. I don't know why... Is it because the hot water pulls the other water out of my body? Or i'm like boiling the water in my body and it's evaporating out of my pores? What is it? I'm gonna straight start bringin some bottled waters into the shower from now on.

When I was waiting for my flight to Chicago from Detroit a few weeks ago, I totally remember watching some random dude totally operate on some chick...excuse me...woman. It was frickin crazy. Seriously, he just straight up walked up to her and asked her if she minded that he was reading over her shoulder cuz she was reading some magazine and just moved on from there. I really wish I had that "smooth operator" personality. He just sat down, and she was sitting BEHIND us, and got her to go "grab some coffee" or whatever that might mean, ha ha ha.

I knocked out pretty soon after we got home...and now I have a headache, he he he. Gonna meet up w/ some more old friends today...friends I haven't seen in a few years - which will be quite exciting.

I am a ray of sunshine...

First off, Happy b-day to my boys, James and Jun, I hope you guys both have fun celebrating and one more thing...."You're old!!!" You guys probably don't read this so I'll make sure to call you and tell you too, he he he.

2nd...the Lakers just picked up Pau Gasol for Javaris Crittenton and Kwame...I am SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED! Lakers baby! I feel bad for Kwame cuz he got booed all the time, which I'm sure didn't help out his already bad situation, so onto better pastures for you buddy. But Pau! Hell yeah baby! HELLZ to the YEAH!!!!! I so don't want to work anymore...I need to, but I'm so amped up about this trade, he he he. Granted, the Lakers still need to win games (Lost 4 of 5), but stil.... HELLZ to the YEAH!!!! =p
